Qatar is a state in the Middle East, located on the Qatar Peninsula. The country has a land border with Saudi Arabia in the south and access to the Persian Gulf.

The basis of Qatar's economy is the oil refining, petrochemical, chemical and metallurgical industries. Agriculture is underdeveloped in Qatar due to the country’s terrain – that is why a large percentage of Qatar's imports are food products.
