Russia and Mongolia have been cooperating closely in the economic sphere for a very long time – trade between the countries began in the first half of the 20th century and has been constantly developing ever since.

It should be noted that Mongolia is a unique country in terms of geography and infrastructure. This somewhat limits cargo transportation, but does not make it difficult or impossible at all.

Transportation of cargo between Mongolia and Russia by road

Mongolia is located in East Asia and shares a common land border with Russia, which is just under 3000 kilometers. Mongolia does not have a particularly well-developed road network. Taking into account these two factors, it should also be noted that using road transport to deliver goods from Russia to Mongolia and from Mongolia to Russia is difficult because of the road surface. However, the necessity to pass only one border significantly accelerates transportation.

Since it is regularly used by passenger trains, cargo delivery results in considerable time losses, which are spent on waiting for the track to be free.
